Bangkok

Bangkok really is a 24 hour city, if this is your first trip to an Asian city, you are in for Culture Shock!! Its hot, humid, and traffic everywhere!

Bangkok was originally a small trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdon and came to the forefront of Thailand when it was given the status as the capital city in 1768 after the burning of Ayutthaya, the former kingdom seat and capital of the Ayuthaya province.

Bangkok is the world's 22nd largest city by population with over 8 million residents, although with so many illegals most educated guesses have it as at about 15 million!!!

Its easy to get around the city, taxi's and Tuk Tuk's are everywhere, but there are also buses which are incredibly cheap and frequent, and besides you get to mix with real Thai people, not just the ones geared up for tourists! The Bangkok Sky Train is also a good option.
